Über sechzig Jahre Beruf, und nun bin ich achtzig«, schreibt Peter Bause in seinen Erinnerungen. Und schüttet einen prallvollen Sack schönster Theateranekdoten aus, in denen seine Kollegen Herwart Grosse, Martin Hellberg, Dietrich Körner, Klaus Piontek, Ekkehard Schall, Rolf Ludwig auf und hinter der Bühne schier unglaubliche Auftritte haben. Da wird eine glanzvolle Theaterepoche lebendig. Der vielseitige Schauspieler hat in zahllosen Theater- und Filmrollen brilliert, hat große und kleine, komische und tragische Rollen – in einem Spektrum vom »Faust« bis zum »Milchmann Tevje« – gespielt und jede einzigartig und dem Publikum unvergesslich gemacht. »Über mich wurde, je nach Sympathie, böse, neidisch oder achtungsvoll gesagt: Der singt und tanzt als bunter Hund in jedem Hausflur!« Mit viel Humor und klugem Understatement schreibt Peter Bause über sein Schauspielerleben. An einem lässt dieser »bunte Hund« keinen Zweifel: Das Theater ist die Basis für seine vielgestaltige Arbeit, Theater, wie er es von der Pike auf erlernt hat und in das er seine Leser mit temperamentvoll erzählten Geschichten einlädt, die ganze Welt zu schauen!
Peter Bause, geboren 1941 in Gotha, kam erst nach seiner Ausbildung zum Briefträger inklusive Leitung des Jugendpostamts in Magdeburg zur Schauspielerei. 1959 entdeckte er schließlich seine wahre Berufung - und die Schauspielszene der DDR ein Talent. Nach seinem nachgeholten Abitur studierte er bis 1963 an der Schauspielschule in Leipzig, von wo aus er über diverse Umwege nach Berlin kam, wo er erst am Deutschen Theater und schließlich bis 1993 am Berliner Ensemble spielte. Seine daraufhin folgende Arbeit als freischaffender Schauspieler brachte ihn nach Dresden, Hamburg und auch München. Für die Rolle des Jacob Weintraub in »Place of Birth: Bergen-Belsen« gewann er 2017 den Theaterpreis Hamburg in der Kategorie »Herausragender Darsteller«. Seinen ersten Fernsehauftritt erlebte Bause 1966 im DDR-Musikfilm »Reise ins Ehebett« mit Frank Schöbel. Auch in beliebten Familienserien wie »Unser Lehrer Doktor Specht« oder »Praxis Bülowbogen« hat er mitgewirkt. Der zweifache Vater lebt seit 1970 mit seiner Frau Hellena Büttner in Berlin-Biesdorf.

Seems durable - but the scent is not the best

I don't know if I'd call the scent of this "bacon," more like rubber with a hint of bacon. It's very strong. I gave my dog one of the balls & put one in a cabinet where I keep his treats & a few other unrelated odds & ends. I now hold my breath when I open that cabinet b/c good lord, the smell. I'm tempted to just give that one to the dog too, just because it'll air out eventually & then everything else in that cabinet won't smell bad.
My dog feels so-so about it. He'll briefly chase after it & chew on it, but loses interest in it pretty fast. My rather hyperactive cat also plays with it from time to time, as he seems to have more interest in most dog toys than the dog these days, so there's that. (Then again, he thinks a wide variety of random items around the house are loads of fun to toss about, so it's possible his opinion is to be taken with a grain of salt. Between the brief periods of one of these balls being chewed on & clawed at, it's stayed completely intact. I think if you have a dog who simply likes to play fetch or chew on rubber balls in general, this one would stand up to the task. But if you're expecting it to be greeted with the enthusiasm as a bacon grease covered ball might be - I'd adjust your expectations.

My dogs favorite toy so far in two years

I use this with my medium sized dog. These are large for him but that's what I want so I don't ever have to think about them being too small or a swallow hazard. He has been through A LOT OF TOYS in the last couple years, but nothing, NOTHING has he loved as much as these.
His favorite used to be squeaker balls. Then his favorite was crackle balls. But he will gladly ignore both for this one. I don't know if it's the bacon flavor or what, but he go nuts for it.

Bacon? IDK but good stuff either way

What is there to say? they're giant 4" rubber balls from the Chew King brand which is very durable brand. The best part is they don't roll under couches, side boards, etc cause they're just big enough.

Tough Dog Balls. Bright Orange/holes for treats

I used to buy Starmark. But their balls got smaller and tore more easily. The color was green. I couldn’t find it when it was dropped in the grass!! Soooooo, I took a chance on this cuz it had holes in it and was bright orange. It is not scented at all or its bacon scent faded. The ball is for strong chewers. I’m a petsitter and I needed tough balls for my clients dog. Shipped quickly. Good price. Exactly as described
