Dank seiner Zähigkeit bleibt das Messer praktisch unbegrenzt scharf. Jedes einzelne Messer der SHUN-Serie ist handpoliert. Das modische Aussehen des Messers wird durch den schwarzen Griff aus laminiertem Pakkaholz erreicht, der mit einer Edelstahlummantelung veredelt ist. Jedes SHUN-Messer ist ein kleines Kunstwerk und daher im Geschenkkarton verpackt. Im Sommer 2019 wurde die Serie um 7 beliebteste Messer erweitert, die jetzt mit hellem Pakkaholz für den Griff ausgestattet sind. Diese Messer heißen Shun Classic WHITE.
