What is the Hybrid Technology ™

Bernafon Alpha combines the following 5 hybrid technologies for exceptional listening comfort and speech understanding:

Hybrid Sound Processing™According to Bernafon there are two parallel strategies that process sound simultaneously in the time and frequency domains.

Hybrid Sound Care™  Hybrid Sound Care tackles wind and contact handling noise so as to remove disruptive sounds from the hearing aids. The feature makes 500 adjustments per second, across 24 frequency bands.

A major annoyance of hearing aid wearers can be due to roaring sounds caused by wind moving over the hearing aid microphones. By using 24 frequency bands, the  system can reduce the noise in only the narrow frequency region where noise is detected. Using this strategy the system reduces the effect of the wind and handling noise and leaves the rest of the signal intact.

So the wind noise protection system allows for a noticeable reduction in wind noise with the aim of enabling conversation in windy situations with improved speech clarity.

Hybrid Noise Management™  one of the main focuses in developing hearing aid technology is to improve their performance in competing background noise. That is to improve the signal of the desired speech and reduce the invasiveness of competing noise. To achieve this goal Bernafon Alpha utilises Smart Directionality. This is a form of microphone multi band adaptive directionality that is active in 24 individual bands. This interacts smoothly with Smart Noise Reduction which is optimised through machine learning. As described by Bernafon to maximise speech understanding  “The system constantly analyses the environment to determine the SNR, the types of noise detected, and the best way to process the signal to keep speech as the primary focus.”
