When you push in, it will automatically turn on, when you remove your hand from lamp, the lamp will automatically turn off.
The lamp has a timer function built-in, with indicator light on top of lamp indicating timer settings (1, 2, 3, or 4 minutes). Turn the lamp on manually, press the UV button on top of the lamp. The lamp will stay on egardless of the position of the tray. Press the UV button again to turn the lamp back off and return to normal operation.
Also good for pedicures when tray is removed.
