Inspired by the Carrera Panamericana, a boarder to boarder sports car racing event, Austrian Wilhelm Anger named his new eyewear company Carrera founded in 1956. In 1974 the company expanded to include a line of sunglasses. Carrera €™s line of products were also expanded in the late 1980s to include sports related goods, fragrances and cycling wear.
