love, longing, betrayal and desire abound and set the standard for romance comics.
Sweethearts was originally published by Fawcett Comics and started with issue #68, picking up
the numbering from where Captain Midnight ended. It has the notoriety of being the first
romance comic published monthly. In 1954 Fawcett stopped publishing comics and Charlton
picked up the title and some of the left over inventory stories. The first issue of the Charlton run
was #122, where the Fawcett numbering had ended, then switched to number 23 the following
issue.
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are sixty
years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not
every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when
judging the overall contents.
