日月扇又稱「芭蕉扇」，為神明出巡時的儀仗之一，
扇面看起來像是葫蘆形狀，且上面繡有「日」、「月」二字，
故得名「日月扇」。除了日、月二字外，扇面還繡有兩隻頭向中央的金龍，
龍自古以來為尊貴、吉祥的象徵，一般百姓不可隨意使用龍的圖像，
由此可見日月扇主要由地位崇高的神明所應用。
