2016 collection. Backslider has been a mainstay of the Philly scene since 2009 when they started up. They have recently added Jake (ex-Rebuplicorpse) to the ranks as a bass player so this album represents a time capsule of the band's sound as one of the most crushing two-piece power violence bands ever to grace a stage. In five years they racked up 51 tracks between their self-titled EP, the Maladapted EP, their splits with both Chainsaw To The Face, and Nimbus Terrifix, the Consequences 10", the Reality 5 comp tracks, and their very first output, the Skull Fracturing Fastcore demo tape. If you haven't been lucky enough to see the band or hear their music, the band mixes uncomfortably fast fastcore/power violence with some unconventional stoner metal and death metal style riffs. Professionally mastered from original sound sources by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound, this is a great grab and a no-brainer to grab so much out-of-print material.

Good gift but particular gift for this difficult person to shop for
Format: Paperback
Got this as a gift for a friend and he was hard to shop for even after asking his wife. He's not a handyman, or a tech savvy man. He cooks, and is a well read man with interests in politics and psychology, he's not at all a gamer either. He doesnt DO much but work, it's not like he works out, golf's or anything like that... And they have a Brady bunch family and all she gave me to go on was he likes malcol x. And this author is more Malcom x than mlk and aggressive in views (when being compared to MLK) but is also very intertwined with their philosophies as he was IN it... According to the person I gave the gift to. Basically he loved it! So

Great Book.
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Its great to be able to go back and read Stokely Carmichael today in his own words. This book provides an excellent overview of what black power means and how the concept originated. Although the book seems a bit dated today, many of the ideas presented are still entirely relevant.
Ive only given the book four stars due to its age. Many of the statistics presented are dated, and undoubtedly there are other texts available today that present these ideas in a much better/newer way. But if you are interested in Stokely Carmichael and what he stood for, this is the book to read.
