Freedom of the Presses is at once a textbook and a toolbox for using artists' books and creative publications to further community engagement and social justice projects.
Far from being a staid survey of an art historical practice, Freedom of the Presses intervenes in an ongoing discussion about art and activism in the present day by considering the place of the art book in the 21st century. The publisher, Booklyn, has been involved in this conversation since 1999, when a group of six artists decided to band together to promote contemporary artists' books and publications. Booklyn's focus has always been voracious, encompassing street art, punk and activist culture alongside more conventional artists' books. This restless energy is present in Freedom of the Presses, which brings together a provocative mix of humorous, intimate and scholarly writing in order to expand how we think about the concept, content, design, production and distribution of artists' and activists' publications today. Aimed at a global community of librarians, publishers and readers, it offers models of how to reimagine contemporary artists' bookmaking as a socially engaged, political practice. Ash vs. Moisture/Success?
Scent: Smoky coffee, Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
The product feels great on the skin and moisturizes well. Although, don't be fooled by the smokey coffee detail. I'm an avid expresso bean grinder and drinker, this is no coffee. Smells like strong chain smokers favorite corner of the house on a stressful day. Imagine ash trays and Jojoba blended. Now that that's explained, it genuinely feels great on the skin/beard/scalp. Unfortunately, I am unsure how long my wife will tolerate this as a nighttime routine.

So far nothing amazing

So I’ve been using for a couple of weeks now and I haven’t noticed any difference. I am going to continue on. I don’t know if it takes time for it to actually show some results. I will say two things about it. It comes solid for 12 my jar cracked and broken And it’s non-returnable so I just have to deal with it so that’s unfortunate after paying $20 second of all it is a solid mass so you have to put it in your hands and kind of warm it up for it to become any sort of an oil and I wouldn’t even consider it an oil at that it’s more of like a cream once you warm it up in your hands, but it doesn’t make your hair greasy. I use a small amount I would think that the jar would last a long time given that you don’t need a lot to get through to your scalp unfortunately, with my jar being cracked, I don’t know how that’s gonna affect the longevity of the product And it does have a smell think of burnt coffee beans that will dissipate after about an hour to an hour and a half after putting it on, but if you’re not putting it on, I’m just going to bed. It might be become an issue. I’m gonna wait it out. I hope I do see results from doing this but again so far nothing.

It works and I love it!

I love this product.. been using it for a few months now. My hair is more manageable and my thinning crown looks and feels fuller. The smoky smell, am not bothered because it disappears after a few minutes. I use it twice a week, massage very little amount on scalp and hair, then the next day wash it off with shampoo. I used to need to dye my gray every 3 to 4 months when some appear. Now, it's been 4 months since my last visit to the salon. I noticed my hair has darken a bit. I can delay my salon visit for another month unless I need a haircut!! Yehey!
