Extra Large Persan Area Rug measuring 13 ft 4 in x 10 ft 9 in (406 cms x 227 cms) Produced by nomads and villagers in Far South Eastern Anatolia, these antique Afshar Bakhtiari oriental rugs are some of the few that merge nomadic and village techniques. The name Afshar derives from the tribe who designs and creates these rugs (also known as the Avsar). Weaving has always been a major part of the artistic creativity of this tribe, and it is not likely to diminish at any time as it is traditionally taught from one generation to the next. Finely woven and intricately patterned, this rug is more influenced by the fine Oriental weavings intended for commercial trade than the more rudimentary utilitarian village weavings made for domestic use. The quality and condition of this rug is first class as the top grade sheep wool colored by natural/vegetable dyes used in its' construction and the skill of the weaver have that the longevity and beauty of the rug is preserved, even though it has most certainly "outlived" the shepherds, shearers, spinners, dyers, craftsmen and artists who all contributed to its' creation

Great Book.
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Its great to be able to go back and read Stokely Carmichael today in his own words. This book provides an excellent overview of what black power means and how the concept originated. Although the book seems a bit dated today, many of the ideas presented are still entirely relevant. Ive only given the book four stars due to its age. Many of the statistics presented are dated, and undoubtedly there are other texts available today that present these ideas in a much better/newer way. But if you are interested in Stokely Carmichael and what he stood for, this is the book to read.

Format: Paperback
Excellent articulation of the Black Power initiative within the Civil Rights Movement. A detailed view of Black Power, it's objectives, how these would be achieved, as well as it's misinterpretations. An afterword from each author appended in 1992 provides insight, reflection, and perspective on all that's changed, and what hasn't, since the book's publishing.

Get one while you can
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Any book with the name Stokely Carmichael is a rare find. You can easily find the same book with Kwame Ture as the author since he changed his name and so later editions reflects the name change. Kwame Ture (fka Stokely Carmichael) changed his name for a reason. However, those of us from the sixties can never forget him nor the name Stokely Carmichael.
