Inspired by Lewis Hamilton's famous win at the 2024 British Grand Prix with Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 and commemorating his 104 race wins including 9 race wins at Silverstone.

This special edition Alastair Gibson sculpture also commemorates the Qatar Airways British Grand Prix Silverstone 2024 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Constructors trophies designed and made by Alastair Gibson and Carbon Art 45.

This sculpture is a smaller version of the ‘racing piranha 2’ sculpture which was originally commissioned by Rubens Barrichello in 2007. This sculpture captures the aggressive look and the hydrodynamic shape of the Red Bellied Piranha.

Selected parts and materials used in this Carbon Art 45 sculpture are from modern Grand Prix cars as listed below.

Sculpture limited to 44 pieces.

Body: Carbon fibre, 2 ply/layers 2 x 2 twill 200 gsm with UV resistant clear gloss coating.

Dorsal and underside fins: Black coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel.

Tail and Pectoral fins: Black coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel.

Marking detail: Silver and black standard piranha details with custom designed 2024 Mercedes Lewis Hamilton vinyl transfer.

Teeth: Printed chrome on black Decal.

Mounting base and rod: Mounted on an exclusive British union flag base with a turbo charger impeller inspired by the winners trophy. 

Mounting methods: Desk mounted.

Dimensions: L 140 mm W 40 mm H 330 mm on base.

This works really well for for elevating your wrist, I use an apple trackpad it puts my wrist a little too high so what I did was put some rubber pads on the back of my trackpad to raise it up. It now gives the perfect height and good support I can even lean on it. This wrist rest sets you up for pretty optimal, level height to prevent future wrist problems. I went with the nice reddish/brown color as it matches my brown wood Edifier speakers and other brown accessories very nicely. Nice matte finish that avoids showing finger prints and skin oils. The color is perfect, not too red or too brown. Keep in mind if your keyboard is angled in the front it will leave a bit of a gap, however it is unnoticeable to me. Also, make sure your arm rests of your chair can come high enough to meet the half inch or so thick wrist rest. My arm rests are a bit low for the time being so some extra pressure is put on my arm behind the wrist when resting on the chair supports.

I swapped it out for a squishy alternative and that worked much better. I have a theory it might have been due to the relatively low height of my ektecity gaming mouse relative to the mouse rest. My keyboard is a higher height and that may be why the wood keyboard rest works so much better.
