The David Oscarson Seaside Fountain Pen in Aquamarine brings the quiet clarity of open water to hand, fusing luminous color with precious metal and time-honored craft. Translucent enamel reveals the precise geometry of engine-turned sterling silver beneath, creating shifting light and depth with every movement. An 18k gold nib and a practical cartridge-converter filling system complete a design that feels both artful and assured at the desk.

Craftsmanship & Design

David Oscarson builds the Seaside around solid sterling silver, first engraved with classic guilloche patterns and then layered in vitreous enamel. Fired repeatedly to achieve clarity and durability, the aquamarine enamel amplifies the guilloche lines below, giving the pen a fluid, wave-like presence as it catches the light. The weight and cool touch of sterling silver underscore its precious character, while the balanced silhouette and thoughtful detailing reflect the brand’s studio approach to luxury writing instruments.

The Aquamarine palette is deliberately translucent, allowing the engine-turned metal to contribute as much to the visual story as the color itself. It is a quietly striking effect: refined at a glance, captivating up close.

Writing Experience

The 18k gold nib delivers a smooth, confident line with responsive feel and reliable ink flow. Offered in fine, medium, or broad, it suits everything from daily notes to long-form correspondence. A cartridge-converter system supports easy travel with international cartridges and invites exploration of bottled inks when at home. The sterling silver construction provides comfortable heft, helping the pen settle naturally in the hand for controlled, unhurried writing.

Brand Heritage

Since 2000, David Oscarson has pursued a singular vision: modern writing instruments using old-world techniques more often associated with fine jewelry. Guilloche engraving and hot vitreous enamel define the house aesthetic, executed to a standard that appeals to serious enthusiasts and collectors. The Seaside continues that tradition, presenting classic craft through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Account of a Review from a St. Nicholas
I have been representing the spirit of St. Nicholas for children for the past 26 years. I have been everything from a Mall Santa to a part in a Christmas Program at our local church. About ten years ago, I started reading this story to the children of the local cops & firefighters fairly close to Christmas Eve each year from an old tattered children's book. I usually hosted this in my own living room until it got too large to do so. This year we opened that reading up to the community and filled the basement of our local library with children and their parents. I needed something to replace the old tattered children's book with and this fit the bill. The illustrations are beautiful and the words large enough to read in front of a group of children. I wish the pages were a little more robust as they are difficult to turn with white gloves on but that is minor. I cannot recommend this edition of the timeless story enough.

“Twas the Night before Christmas” illustrated by Matt Tavares
Format: Hardcover
Clement C. Moore - “Twas the Night before Christmas” is a perennial holiday favorite of mine. Matt Tavares’ monochrome illustrations are incredible! Mr. Tavares’ version remains true to the text within the original 1823 poem, ”A Visit from St. Nicholas”. As noted - two original reindeer names – Dunder and Blixem. I highly recommend Irish illustrator PJ Lynch 2021 version and American illustrator Matt Tavares 2022 version of Moore’s “Twas the Night before Christmas”.

Tavares' beautiful craftsmanship brings Moore's poem to life
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas is a beautifully illustrated edition of the famed Clement C. Moore poem. Using the original anonymous version of the poem (later attributed to Moore), artist Matt Tavares crafts a series of elegant black and white illustrations that captures its enchantment and whimsy. Additionally, the book’s layout has a simple yet classic design with green trim and subtle pieces of shading that give it a majestic look and feel. One of the best editions of the poem ever published, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas has a bit of magic all its own.

Beautiful book
I purchased this book for my kids to read as it gets closer to Christmas. I specifically chose it because of the old world charm it has. I love the black and white sketches and the fact that the outdoor scenes of brownstones were illustrated from Boston brownstones, where we used to live. This book is just a classic and the illustrations have such depth and emotion. There is that quality and detail you can only get from black and white..and from an amazing illustrator. Lovely book. I'm very happy to own it and have it as part of our Christmas tradition..a lot more special to me than Elf on The Shelf..which was last years Christmas book purchase.
