John Vogt's transcription of the King & Queen County, Virginia 1810 Census, from the original images.

Illustrations, maps, index.

This is the first surviving census for King and Queen, since both the 1790 and 1800 censuses have been lost. The transcription is in its original rough alpha order of the original document for easy reference. King and Queen was one of the first settlements in the Northern Neck in the late seventeenth century and it has been the scene of numerous historic events. The very high proportion of slaves to the overall total illustrates the plantation society which existed in the area by the beginning of the nineteenth century.

This and other 1810 censuses are transcribed by the author from the original images, and while many of Virginia's censuses are available online, they oftentimes are replete with misreadings. Caveat emptor!

Very well built.
Well build. Very solid for the price. I used #1 AWG cable. I don't like the pinch bolt connection. It tries to drill through the cable, and spreads the strands. Only about 2/3rds are pinched under the knurled bolt tip. I'll keep an eye on it, and if the connection heats up, I'll pull apart, straighten the strands, and tin the ends with solder so they don't crush much. See how that works. A concave, half circle piece under the pinch bolt would be better IMO. That would keep strands together as they crushed down.

It’s awesome, solid connections for running 0 gauge wire. No issues after using for months! Might upgrade to using 0 gauge wire ferrules to use with this but for now everything is working well.
