ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The most popular works by Chile's Nobel Prize-winning poet, Pablo Neruda. Now his two books are kept in one book.

When Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair was first published, it launched into the international spotlight a young and unknown poet whose writings would ignite a generation. Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair is a collection of romantic poems by Pablo Neruda, first published in 1924 when Neruda was 19. It was Neruda's second published work and made his name as a poet. It's Neruda's best-known work, and has sold more than 20 million copies. It remains the best- selling poetry book in the Spanish language ever, almost 100 years after its first publication.

100 Love Sonnets is a collection of one hundred sonnets written by Chilean poet Pablo Neruda and was published first in 1959 in Spanish. Against the backdrop of Isla Negra -- the sea and wind, the white sand with its scattering of delicate wild flowers, the hot sun and salty smells of the Pacific -- Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda sets these joyfully sensual poems in celebration of his love. The subject of that love: Matilde Urrutia de Neruda, the poet's "beloved wife." In the book poems are kept in four sections - Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night.

Brought the adventure to life
Format: Paperback
I didn’t expect to feel so pulled into these ancient stories, but this translation made the adventures and struggles feel real and vivid. The language is modern enough to understand easily but keeps the weight and drama of Homer’s world. It’s the kind of book that makes you appreciate why these stories have lasted so long, and it’s been a rewarding read I’m glad I added to my shelf.

Finally made Homer click for me
Format: Paperback
I’ve tried reading The Iliad and The Odyssey before but always got lost in the language. This translation is clear and smooth while keeping the epic feel of the stories. It helped me actually enjoy the characters and battles without feeling like I was stuck in a high school assignment. It’s made these classics feel alive and human, and I’m glad I gave it another try with this version.

Epic tales that still resonate
Format: Paperback
I dove into Dawson’s twin translation of The Iliad and The Odyssey hoping for clarity—and instead found myself struck by their emotional pull. Achilles’ fury, Hector’s honor, Odysseus’ longing for home—it all felt immediate and real. Dawson’s language flows so naturally, I forgot I was reading an ancient text. There were moments I stopped and sighed, moved by how these characters still speak to our hearts today.

Timeless adventure, beautifully retold
Format: Paperback
I started with The Iliad, expecting a dry history lesson, and ended up caught in the drama of gods and men. Then The Odyssey stole my evenings—each chapter like an invitation back into wonder. Superb translation.
