The TASCAM 122 MkIII is a flagship professional 3-head cassette deck released in the mid-1990s, built for studio, broadcast, and archival work. As the final and most refined generation of the legendary 122 series, it’s prized for its exceptional reliability, rock-steady transport, and clean, full-range analogue sound, making it a favourite among engineers, tape enthusiasts, and collectors seeking one of the best cassette decks ever made for accurate recording, transfer, and restoration work.

Condition:

  • This is a used unit.

  • Physically this unit is overall in nice condition for its age. It shows some signs of use and age like general marks, nicks and scratches. There is nothing major, nor anything which detracts from the use or sound of the unit. Overall it is a nice piece! Please see all photos.

  • This unit has been serviced. It is fully functional and ready to use. The service included a full rebuild, clean and re-grease of the tape mechanism. It has had a brand new gear and idler tyre installed. All potentiometers were cleaned and the record and playback levels have been calibrated.

  • This unit has been converted to 240V with its internal multi-tap transformer! This means it is ready to plug and play within Australia and New Zealand!

  • If you purchase from outside Australia you may need a step-up transformer to use this unit. Please contact us if you need any help sourcing the correct product.

  • This sale is for the 122 MKIII only. Nothing else is included.

One thing I actually liked was that the mask was easy to customize a little. I have a nose piercing, so I just tore a small piece near my nose so it would fit comfortably without irritating it. I personally don’t see how that’s possible 😅 The mask stays pretty moist and jelly-like the whole time, so it felt uncomfortable to lay down in and I kept feeling like it would slide around. I ended up just wearing it for a while before bed instead. Overall though, the results were worth it and I’d definitely use it again for the glow alone!
