Tsuba is attributed to Satsuma and comes with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu. Paper says only "Satsuma" but it looks like a work of Chishiki School of Satsuma. Fuchikashira does not have a certificate. However it looks like a perfect match to the tsuba so I think it also comes from Chishiki School of Satsuma. Both items are made of high quality distinctively blue shakudo. While the

While the theme of this tsuba is a dragon the main focus is on the flow of clouds. When tsuba moves in hand we are drawn to the light that reflects from the polish river of clouds and follow it. Because of that we almost forget about the dragon who is still and far away in the clouds (dragon does not really change when we move the tsuba is hand so our eyes are not drown to it, we follow what moves). It adds perspective and layers to the way we can understand this piece. While looking at it I see a power of nature, however this is just an illusion. The real strength and danger is far away and It is just all to easy to forget about it. Another interpretation is that strength of a person is not easily visible from the outside, the real power is hidden.
