De meeste laders met bescherming tegen omgekeerde polariteit zullen een volledig ontladen accu niet herkennen en dus ook niet laden. De Blue Power Charger daarentegen zal een volledig ontladen accu met een lage stroom proberen te laden en overschakelen op het normale laadprogramma zodra de spanning voldoende gestegen is.

Reconditioning

Een lood accu die niet geheel of gedeeltelijk ontladen blijft gedurende dagen of weken zal achteruitgaan als gevolg van sulfatering¹. Sulfatering kan soms deels teruggedraaid worden door het laden van de accu met een lage stroom en een hogere spanning: de reconditioning mode. Opmerkingen: a) Vlakke plaat VRLA (gel en AGM) accu’s gaan licht gassen (en verliezen daardoor water) in de reconditioning mode.Het verdiend daarom aanbeveling om reconditioning slechts incidenteel toe passen op dit type accu’s.
