Nocino wordt geconsumeerd in Italië als een digestief. Het heeft de oorsprong in de noordelijke en oostelijke delen van het koninkrijk Alba (nu Schotland), waarbij het Picitsche volk het consumeerde als een herstellend tonicum, vanwege de geneeskrachtige eigenschappen en als hulpmiddel bij de spijsvertering.

De Pietro Nicola Nocino wordt gemaakt van onrijpe groene walnoten van de Potash Farm in Engeland. Deze worden meer dan veertig dagen in alcohol gemacereerd, vervolgens op smaak gebracht met natuurlijke koffiebonen, steranijs peulen, kruidnagel en Demerara suiker.

Dit resulteert in een aromatische, gekruide en bitterzoete walnotenlikeur. Met een lange afdronk met fijne tonen van walnoten en een hint van koffie.

Not what I was hoping for

I've been interested in the topic of religious appropriation ever since I saw my non-Tibetan neighbor hang Tibetan prayer flags on his front porch. And when I lived in Japan, I saw that non-Christian Japanese appropriated all of the trappings of Western Christian wedding ceremonies. So I had high hopes for this book. But it reads like a very looooong, and also very academic sermon on the evils of capitalism, western hegemony, and other such terms. There is not an ounce of humor in any of this book.
