In de kerk gaat het allereerst over het Woord van God. De boodschap van het Woord moet getrouw verkondigd worden. Dat is de grondslag van de kerk, en die is het meest wezenlijk. Van daaruit zijn met name voor de jongeren van de gemeente ook de catechisatie en het onderwijs heel belangrijk.
Vanuit de grondslag van het Woord is er ook een orde in de kerk: hoe gaan de dingen eraan toe in de kerk, hoe wordt de kerk geregeerd? De kerkregering is van groot belang en heeft alles te maken met het gezag dat aan de Bijbel en aan bijbelse normen en opvattingen wordt toegekend.
