The interior color is the golden yellow of fresh cut Bodark heartwood with inter grain bands and shading of light reddish spalting. This is a nice 1-1/2"-square end-grain block of lightly spalted Texas Bodark. The interior color is the golden-yellow of fresh-cut Bodark heartwood with inter-grain bands and shading of light reddish spalting. That golden-yellow color will, over the course of time and exposure to air and light, gradually change to a darker orange-brown and ultimately to a beautiful dark, golden brown. You can see the contrast between the freshly-cut face and the aged face when you look between the photos.
We keep multiples of this dimension block in stock, so photo is representative of the group. The dark patches on the fresh cut face are saw-burn --- Osage orange is very hard!
