Starting with the most obvious, M8T is our first portable player with built-in Tube output. Shanling’s history is closely connected to Hi-Fi tubes, as they were prominently featured on some of our most acclaimed CD players and Amplifiers over many years. So it was about time to bring them to our lineup of Portable players, with a pair of JAN6418 tubes implemented into the top of the M8T.
When designing the audio circuit of M8T, we had to keep in mind its predecessor, the original Shanling M8 released in 2020. Known for its rich warm sound and exquisite bass presentation, the aim was to recreate it as closely as possible with the new flagship AKM DACs, their matching Delta-Sigma modulators and our latest generation of headphone amplifier.
And because we understand that tubes might not be ideal for all types of headphones or music, we made sure that the M8T can switch quickly between its tube-enhanced output and the pure transistor mode."
