In an increasingly interconnected world, the quest for autonomy becomes paramount. This thought-provoking book, written by the esteemed philosopher Beate Roessler, delves deep into our inherent desire for self-determination and the struggles that often accompany it. "Autonomy" challenges the widely held belief that we are always the architects of our own lives, illustrating how social relationships and external circumstances can impede our ability to make free choices. With 380 pages rich in philosophy and literary insights, readers will encounter an intricate analysis of the balance between independence and the inevitable influences from our environment.Roessler's exploration of autonomy encompasses both the successes and failures that shape our lived experiences. By illuminating the complexities of self-awareness, she presents profound reflections on the societal and political conditions that facilitate or hinder personal freedom. Citing literary figures like Siri Hustvedt and Jane Austen, along with the candid diaries of Franz Kafka and Sylvia Plath, Roessler crafts an articulate defense of individual autonomy.

Description:
In everyday life, we generally assume that we can make our own decisions on matters which concern our own lives. We assume that a life followed only according to decisions taken by other people, against our will, cannot be a well-lived life “ we assume, in other words, that we are and should be autonomous. However, it is equally true that many aspects of our lives are not chosen freely: this is true of social relations and commitments but also of all those situations we simply seem to stumble into, situations which just seem to happen to us. The possibility of both the success of an autonomous life and its failure are part of our everyday experiences.
In this brilliant and illuminating book, Beate Roessler examines the tension between failing and succeeding to live an autonomous life and the obstacles we have to face when we try to live our life autonomously, obstacles within ourselves as well as those that stem from social and political conditions. She highlights the ambiguities we encounter, examines the roles of self-awareness and self-deception, explores the role of autonomy for the meaning of life, and maps out the social and political conditions necessary for autonomy. Informed by philosophical perspectives but also drawing on literary texts, such as those of Siri Hustvedt and Jane Austen, and diaries, including those of Franz Kafka and Sylvia Plath, Roessler develops a formidable defense of autonomy against excessive expectations and, above all, against overpowering skepticism.

Perfect for petite pooches!
Color: Blue, Size: Small(6Pack)
Perfect size for a petite pooch! My pooch loves the donut and the fish bones. Cute colors. She’s 9lbs and these are just the right size for her and appear durable. Easy to clean and just soft/hard enough to prevent tooth chips and to keep engaged.

Puppy loves the toy! Great deal and product.
Color: Pink, Size: Small(6Pack)
Say hi to Daisy- a13 week year old pit. She absolutely loves the toys! She was using another chew toy and DESTROYED it so I needed a quick replacement. They’re very durable; however, she chipped one of the bones so I don’t anticipate it having TOO long of a life. For the price, it’s great and I recommend for any chewers you might have.

Love them
Color: Pink, Size: Small(6Pack)
Both of my dogs love chewing on this toy. In fact, I had to order a second one because they kept fighting over the first! It has definitely been a big hit with both of them. I have a Boston Terrier mix and Shitzu.

Cute but not for a strong chewer
Color: Pink, Size: Small(6Pack), Color: Pink, Size: Small(6Pack)
My puppy loves all of these toys, as those one of my older dogs. They are adorable and a good size for a small medium puppy. I recommend them, but they can chew some of the small pieces/nubs/ends so just be careful.
