There are versions much more virtuosic than the duo Zhislin / Bauer. However, this very touching duo (cover II) moved us for several reasons. The age that separates the pianist and the violinist has created a mother/son relationship that can be felt in the interpretation. It looks like the photo of old Brahms with the two charming ladies. The musical phrasing is ample and deep. The sound of the instruments is beautiful: the experience of life can be felt in Frieda Bauer's piano playing. The sensitivity, tenderness and attention for her partner can be felt in Grigori Zhislin's playing. It is an introspective version, very human.. In the photo (cover I), Brahms is surrounded by the wife and daughter of Viktor von Miller zu Aichholz during a summer stay in Gmunden..

Yehudi Menuhin: “Grigori Zhislin has all my admiration, both as a musician and as a superb instrumentalist. I came to know him as an exceptional teacher, but his natural gifts and total dedication have made him not only an excellent musician, but also a great violinist.”

Elizabeth Guilels-Kogan: “Each of his brilliant successes in international competitions and every one of his solo and symphonic performances convinces me of his immense potential as a violinist, artist, and virtuoso, who has mastered a wide range of both classical and contemporary repertoire.”

Grigori Zhislin was born in Saint Petersburg and studied with Yuri Yankelevitch in Moscow. He is a prizewinner of the international Premio Paganini competition (First Prize) and the Queen Elisabeth Competition. His career was subsequently marked by major concert tours throughout Europe, the United States, and Australia. He collaborated closely with composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Edison Denisov, Alfred Schnittke, and Sofia Gubaidulina, who dedicated numerous works to him. His outstanding qualities as both violinist and violist, together with the breadth of his repertoire, brought him international acclaim.

Frieda Bauer was born in Kyiv in 1919. She studied piano at the Kyiv Music School and later at the Moscow Conservatory with Konstantin Igumnov, graduating in 1944. For many years, she worked as an accompanist, notably in the cello classes of Semyon Kozolupov and later Mstislav Rostropovich, and accompanied numerous competitions, including the Casals Competition in Paris in 1957.

From 1960 onward, she became the recital partner of David Oistrakh, with whom she toured worldwide, performing programs encompassing the violin and keyboard repertoire from Johann Sebastian Bach to Sergei Prokofiev.

Among the distinctions they received were the Gold Medal for their interpretation of the Beethoven Violin Sonatas during the bicentenary concerts in Vienna in 1970, as well as the Grand Prix du Disque in France in 1966 and 1968 for recordings of sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Prokofiev, and Leoš Janáček.

After the death of David Oistrakh, she performed with Igor Bezrodny and Grigori Zhislin. In 1989 and 1990, she gave chamber music masterclasses at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.
